I’ve been playing Soul Sacrifice a lot lately despite hating the shit out of it the first time I touched it.
Before, when I played the game out of context on a friend’s Vita, it felt a lot like a mess. Kind of a weird entry in the long list of Monster Hunter clones with limited resources and other blah blah weird systems et cetra so on…
But then, with it being free on Playstation Plus, I gave it another go from the beginning and an epiphany hit me:
Why am I comparing this game to Monster Hunter when it’s clearly Phantom Dust?
The framework surrounding the world and gameplay is also pretty damn amazing. Here’s a summary: A talking book is teaching me magic and there’s some spooky guy with eyes who I gotta beat up. Who cares. Let’s fight some monsters except they’ll all memories within the book. Everything is a memory! That spooky guy is gonna eat you! You better listen to what the book tells you! Read all this lore too, it’s pretty neat! These orcs are cats!!
Still haven’t tried to multiplayer, though I blame that mostly on the eternal question of ‘who even has a Vita?’
I do. I’m EverlastingXIII. Please be my friend maybe.
