Below is a draft that very much needs to be worked out.
The opening paragraph needs to be fixed. Mars should consider his relationship with Russo there, and then get into the phone call. In fact, the conversation should be him calling her and imagining her reaction as opposed to describing himself and his actions. Man I bet she’s pissed and all that nonsense.
Russo comes to the meeting place — which is a factory — and finds Mars standing over a table with a sheet over a body. She immediately freaks out of course. Why is there a body here? What the fuck did you do? That sort of thing. Mars explains by detailing the stuff that’s been happening in town - the deaths, that is. And then Mars pulls back the sheet.
Russo takes a look. It’s a girl. A very pretty girl except there’s several things wrong with her that throw off the pretty. Most noticeably, the scar across her face and how the skin above it is much lighter than the skin below it. At first she thinks it’s a tan line. Mars pulls the girl’s lip down and has Russo examine the teeth.
“Jesus, is that metal?”
“Yeah. All of them. Sheet metal, I think.”
“What the hell…?”
And then she deduces the girl is a Frankenstein and Mars nods.
